I’m honored to have presented at Jewish Women International’s Fifth International Conference on Domestic Violence in the Jewish Community.
I was asked to present on the intersection of reproductive coercion and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. My workshop is called “Abortion Access, Reproductive Coercion, and Domestic Violence.”
This was a relatively new area of research for me. While I intrinsically knew that there is a connection between abortion access and domestic violence, this was my first time diving into the realities and pervasiveness of the issue. I am truly honored to have been asked to present this workshop.
Watch the recording below.
Workshop description:
In the wake of the recent Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision, abortion access has been severely restricted in many parts of the country. As a result, advocates for survivors of intimate partner violence are worried about the effect the loss of sexual and reproductive health care will have. Participants in this session will learn the far-reaching consequences of Dobbs v. Jackson, learn how survivors of reproductive coercion may face new obstacles, and learn how to incorporate abortion access advocacy into their work.
