Joining the Board of Directors for the Emma Goldman Clinic

Tonight, I am proud to finally announce that I have been voted onto the board of the Emma Goldman Clinic, a feminist and independent abortion clinic serving the people of Iowa. I have been sitting on the development committee since early February and when asked to become a full, voting member I jumped on it. Monday was my full orientation and tonight are my first committee meetings as a director.

Now, more than ever, I am struck by the importance of compassionate, affirming, and accessible abortion care. With the very real possibility of abortion being outlawed on a Federal level, we all must do what we can to advocate for reproductive freedom and justice.

It would mean the world to me if you can make a donation to the clinic in my honor. They not only provide abortions but transgender affirming therapy, birth control, general wellness visits, and gynecological care. Importantly, the clinic offers a subsidy to patients who cannot afford the cost of their procedures. Your gift, no matter how small, helps people obtain their needed health care.

I know there is so much happening right now, but like the clinic’s namesake, Emma Goldman cautions, “Let us not overlook vital things, because of the bulk of trifles confronting us.”
